Missouri Western Violence Prevention Program

 (A collaborative partnership between the St. Joseph YWCA and Missouri Western State University and funded through the MO Department of Health and Senior Services)

Our Mission Statement:

Our mission is recognizing the need for power-based personal violence prevention in our community and pledging to reduce inappropriate harassing, abusive and violent continuums of behavior.

We will accomplish our mission two ways, Primary and Secondary Prevention;

1) Primary Prevention- which is creating social change around an already existing culture of violence.  You will be hearing about Green Dot. Green Dot strategy is a comprehensive approach to violence prevention that capitalizes on the power of peer and cultural influence across all levels of the socio-ecological model.  Creating change one green dot at a time.

2) Secondary Prevention-creating awareness to the topics of both sexual violence and intimate partner violence. You will have an opportunity to hear on both topics at various times during the semester.

Check out our Training page for times and locations.

If you feel as strongly as we do about ending violence, and would like to be a part of Green Dot, please stop by or send an email to:
